The 2nd Annual Civil War Weekend in Bellefonte!

The American Civil War was our country’s attempt to reconcile tensions troubling our nation embedded in its very Constitution. Despite the bloody sacrifice, unmatched in our domestic history, some of these stresses persist to this day.  It is fitting and proper that we investigate why we fought and endeavor to understand the status of those original tensions that precipitated conflict.

The Civil War Weekend in Bellefonte offers exhibits, an encampment, demonstrations, lectures, music, recreations of essential speeches, and cemetery tours, all endeavoring to help us see more clearly the attempted resolution of our nation’s ills that began 165 years ago. The Weekend’s organizers aspire to help you learn about the past to better prepare for our future.
